Small Business SEO Tip – Links

There is a ton of information out there regarding search engine optimization (SEO).  One thing that everyone will tell you is, links to your site are a good thing.  They provide somewhat of a trust or validity quotient to your site.  So, what is one thing you can easily do to get more links pointed at your site?

Google your company name.  What comes up?  Hopefully, your site is #1.  But, there may be some other sites ahead of you.  A few sites like Manta, Service Magic and Merchant Circle list small business in a sort of directory.  Click on those links for your company and make sure that your website is listed and that the other information is correct.  If not, contact those services to correct it.  Most of them have a “Claim this listing” or “This is me” button you can click to start the process right online.

Also, Google your address. Does your business name show up on the left?  If so, be sure you click on that listing and then More Info.  You should then be able to click on Business Owner? at the top in order to claim that listing and take control of it – including listing your new website.

There are many other ways to build links and improve your SEO.  This is just one quick one.  We will detail others in the future.
